Frequently Asked Questions

Will my dog understand how to play?

Yes! The kit comes with a step-by-step Hide Guide. Most dogs pick it up quickly, and the levels make it fun for beginners and pros.

What if my dog isn’t food motivated?

You can reward with a game of tug, fetch, or whatever your dog loves most. The sniffing is the real challenge — the reward just reinforces it.

What if my dog is reactive?

Geo-Sniffing is a solo sport — no other dogs or people needed. It’s perfect for building confidence and focus in reactive dogs, since it taps into their natural instincts in a calm, controlled way.

I can’t play consistently — is that a problem?

Not at all. Once your dog learns how Geo-Sniffing works, they don’t forget. Whether you play every day or once a week, your dog will jump right back in, ready to sniff and search. You don’t lose progress — it’s like riding a bike, but with a nose.

Do I need a fully trained scent dog to do the Buddy Program?

Not at all. Every dog has a nose, but training takes time. While your pup is learning, you can use the map to find pods yourself. Most dogs catch on in just a few sessions, and the map keeps you exploring together from day one.

Where can I play?

Inside, outside, rain or shine. Whether you’re in a tiny apartment or a big yard, Geo-Sniffing adapts. Join the buddy program to start finding today.

How does this compare to toys or puzzles?

Puzzle toys tend to become repetitive once your dog figures them out. Geo-Sniffing is dynamic — each hide is different based on your home, yard, or environment. In fact, clutter and lived-in spaces are a good thing — they create fresh hiding spots and unpredictable scent trails.

Unlike puzzles, the challenge doesn’t stay the same. It naturally evolves as your surroundings (and your dog’s skills) change.

Isn’t my dog too old (or young) for this?

As long as they have a nose, they can play. Puppies learn confidence and problem-solving. Seniors stay sharp and engaged without physical strain. The game adjusts to any age.

Is this okay for a small space or apartment?

Totally. Geo-Sniffing works in any environment — even a studio. Hide the pods behind doors, furniture, or under rugs.

Can’t I just make something like this myself?

Sure — in fact, we include DIY tips if you want to get creative. But our kits come with competition-grade target scents used in AKC-style scent work, plus seasonal scent options to build your dog’s scent repertoire and keep things exciting. You’re not just buying gear — you’re unlocking variety, progression, and pro-level training tools.

The training manual was disappointing

The training manual was disappointing. More of an informative handout than actual training.

Thank you for your feedback! We recently updated the training manual to be more step-by-step. It now features three levels of training — starter, indoor, and outdoor missions — each with 2–5 lessons, plus checklists and skill goals to guide your progress. You should receive the updated link today so you can check out the new version.
